Mischief Day....

Mischief Night is today, errrr tonight! It is an evening when people traditionally participated in harmless (please) mischief. We stress harmless or innocent mischief. Other forms of mischief can lead to big trouble. Even seemingly harmless mischief can be the source of problems.

This night is discouraged by law enforcement organizations. The mischief is sometimes less than funny, and can even lead to vandalism or destructive.
Important: We neither encourage, nor endorse participation in this day. Why risk getting in trouble??
Historically, some common forms of mischief on this has included:
Soaping windows
Egging houses and cars
Tossing a few rotten tomatoes
Toilet papering house trees, etc.
Knocking on doors, then running away
Have a happy, safe, and harmless Mischief Night.

Navy Day...

Many nations around the world celebrate their navies, with a special day dedicated to them. Each country selects a date relevant to their navy, often the birth date of the navy.

In the United States, Navy Day is commonly celebrated on October 27th. This date was selected as it was the birth date of President Theodore Roosevelt, an avid supporter of the U.S. Navy. In the 1970's, research determined that the birthday of the U.S. Continental Navy was October 13, 1775. At the time, efforts were made to move Navy Day to this date. However, Navy Day in the United Stares is still largely recognized as October 27th.

On Navy Day, give some well deserved attention to your proud U.S. Navy, and to the sailors who serve our country.......Salute!

The designers had a choice to use the color Navy or to make a Navy Card.

Sweetest Day....

Now here is a day dedicated just for your sweetie. It exists as an opportunity for you to recognize that sweet and special someone. It doesn’t matter who that person is, or what their relation to you. They just have to be "sweet" in order to get a little recognition.

Herbert Birch Kingston, a Cleveland, Ohio philanthropist and candy company employee started Sweetest Day. He wanted to bring happiness to orphans, shut-ins and under-privileged. His intent was to show these people that they were not forgotten. In 1922, he started this holiday by giving candy and small gifts. He often used movie stars to distribute the gifts.

The popularity of this holiday quickly spread. Today, is celebrated with loved ones and friends. However, we encourage you to follow the intent of the original holiday, and find ways to give candy and small gifts to those in need.

Moldy Cheese Day...

Moldy Cheese Day is today. Do you have any moldy cheese in your refrigerator? Do you need to have moldy cheese to celebrate this day? And, if you have any moldy cheese, what would you do with it today?

Every once in a while, we come across a special day that has no apparent rhyme or reason. Today is one of those days. But, that doesn't mean you shouldn't celebrate this wonderful(?) and special holiday. Au contrare....... scour through the refrigerators at home and work today for moldy cheese. Office refrigerators are a great place to find moldy stuff. See if that moldy piece of cheese is salvageable. And, just enjoy the day.

Come and Take it Day....

Today is Come and Take It Day. This day is here for the taking. Grab it. Take it and run with it. We're sure it's going to be a great day.

There is a slight difference between the terms "come and get it" and "come and take it". The first suggests an offer by someone, and therefore, approval to have whatever "it" is.

We're not sure what you have been looking for. But, today is the day to reach out for it...... to take it. Use your imagination. But if the taking involves another person in any way shape or form, get their okay before you take it.  We asked our girls to find something around their house that they wanted to throw out and use it to create a project of their choice something they could turne trash to treasure.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month...

The month of October is National Breast Cancer Month. It is a celebration of Hope.
The pink ribbon is an international symbol of breast cancer awareness. Pink ribbons, and the color pink in general, identify the wearer or promoter with the breast cancer brand and express moral support for women with breast cancer. Pink ribbons are most commonly seen during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The color pink is considered feminine in modern Western countries. It evokes traditional feminine gender roles, caring for other people, being beautiful, being good, and being cooperative.[2]
The pink ribbon represents fear of breast cancer, hope for the future, and the charitable goodness of people and businesses who publicly support the breast cancer movement.[4] It is intended to evoke solidarity with women who currently have breast cancer.
Breast cancer organizations use the pink ribbon to associate themselves with breast cancer, to promote breast cancer awareness, and to support fundraising.[5] Some breast cancer-related organizations, such as Pink Ribbon International,[6] use the pink ribbon as their primary symbol. Susan G. Komen for the Cure uses a stylized "running ribbon" as their logo.[7]
While specifically representing breast cancer awareness, the pink ribbon is also a symbol and a proxy of goodwill towards women in general.[8] Buying, wearing, displaying, or sponsoring pink ribbons signals that the person or business cares about women. The pink ribbon is a marketing brand for businesses that allows them to promote themselves with women and identify themselves as being socially aware.[9] Compared to other women's issues, promoting breast cancer awareness is politically safe.

All through the month we at Eye-Lets Etc. will be showcasing projects that we came up with using the Colors: PINK, Black and White to support NBCAM. Would love to see what Our fans come up with.
